Fred is out, but we're still waiting

So Fred is now officially out.

I hope his mother and family are well. I guess we will just wait and see what Fred does.
FredHeads and Mitt-lovers, what is going to happen? Is there a chance for a formal alliance? Will Fred endorse someone else? What is the path for most FredHeads, and does it hinge upon Fred's endorsement or not?

I get the sense Thompson may not formally endorse anyone. In any case, Fred is a conservative, and the other conservative is Mitt Romney. McCain is certainly not, nor is Huckabee. I think Fred's supporters should feel comfortable now supporting Romney. I sure hope so.

The endorsement largely won't make a difference. I believe that's why Fred isn't endorsing anyone...

He can't endorse any one candidate without offending another, but his fans are intelligent conservatives and will not pick McCain or Huckabee for the most part...unofficial online surveys show that most Fredheads support Romney as a secondary choice.

True the endorsement may not mean much anyhow, but it would be nice if he refrained anyhow. I completely agree...FredHeads I've interacted with are intelligent and reasonable and I think would see the problems with McCain and Huckabee in terms of conservative principles (i.e. those two do not have a "conservative instinct" like Thompson and Romney do).
